Iowa: Iowa considers classroom hours, not days

DES MOINES - Instead of counting to 180 Days Until school ends in Iowa, students Might Be counting the hours - only 1.170 to go.
The Iowa Department of Education Plans Thurs Propose a bill this week To Change The Way of Calculating Yearly classroom time, The Gazette of Cedar Rapids reported. Currently, it's based on a minimum of 180 School Days Between July 1 and June 30
Under the change, Would it be based on a minimum of 6 1 / 2 hours of daily instruction for 180 days, or 1.170 hours.
"This Will Not Be a radical change," said Konni Cawiezell, WHO Serves as the Department's Legislative Liaison. "This really just schools Gives More Flexibility in Making Sure They give kids all the Instructional Hours That They really have Coming to Them."
