Wizard Of Oz Hanging

“Old Ghosts Die Hard”. Well the phrase fits very well the MGM 1939 movie Wizard of Oz Hanging based on popular kid’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The film features a small farm girl. The life on the farm gets a little boring for her and she starts desiring a home in Rainbow. Her desire is half granted as she happens to get stuck by a window after a tornado strikes the farmland. She got unconscious and transported into a dream land half matching the Rainbow Homeland along with her pet dog Toto. But obviously she had to get back to her home in Kansas. There’s no way for Dorothy to find her way back and a witch helps her on the way of the yellow bricks where she can find good Wizard of Oz who was to help her out.
The legend has it that in the scene where Dorothy is traversing the road of yellow bricks and singing “We’re off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!” along with the scarecrow and a woodsman made of tin, on the back ground is visible a Munchkin who hangs himself from the tree from his neck and swaying in the air.
It is quite possible that the swinging object is just a prop or some other object on the set or simply a piece of black cloth but the imagination! – well it has its own sways and swings.
Wizard of Oz still is an unforgettable movie for a child, I have seen the movie in my childhood and still fanaticize the movie, but nowadays it is about making money and not a good ethical movie.
